Manitou Springs Police officers responded to a tip that a man wanted on a local felony warrant was coming to the 00 block of Manitou Avenue to pick up an online order of cannabis. They were able to locate and arrest the suspect, who was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

 

JAN. 17

MSPD saw a silver Ford F150 bearing a Colorado license plate weaving over the center line near the 32nd Street/West Colorado Avenue intersection. When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver drove away. They then learned the license plate had been reported stolen.

At 0447 hours, officers responded to mile marker 295 on U.S. Highway 24 after a citizen made a traffic complaint. They located the vehicle and, after an investigation, arrested the driver for being under the influence of drugs.

MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver had no valid license, insurance or vehicle registration. Manitou officers had stopped the vehicle twice before for not being registered. The vehicle was towed.

The driver in a traffic accident at Highway 24 and Manitou Avenue was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver and the passenger sustained minor injuries and the driver was transported to a hospital, then cited for DUI and released. The vehicle was impounded and towed.

The Manitou Crisis Response Team responded to a request to check the welfare of a suicidal person at a motel in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. After an investigation, a woman was placed on a mental health hold and transported to the hospital.

 

JAN. 18

A vehicle abandoned behind the Dillon Motel, now city property, was towed and impounded. The Manitou Springs Parking Department had marked it for towing on Jan. 4.

 

JAN. 19

Officers stopped a vehicle at Manitou Avenue and Otoe Place at 1454 hours. The driver was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol, issued a summons and released.

MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 00 block of Otoe Place. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and the passenger had a local misdemeanor warrant. The driver was cited and released to a sober person. The passenger was taken into custody and booked into CJC.

 

JAN. 20

Officers stopped a speeding vehicle in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

At 2104 hours, MSPD observed a vehicle leaving the 00 block of Manitou Avenue, but were unable to stop it until it reached the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue. The passenger had an out-of-county felony warrant and was transported to jail.

Officers contacted a suspect at 0035 hours in the 500 block of Manitou Avenue. He was wanted for violating a probation order and was arrested and transported to CJC.

 

JAN. 22

MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue after learning it was associated with a suspect in a local misdemeanor case. The driver was arrested.

El Paso County SWAT personnel stand outside the Dillon Motel, 134 Manitou Ave., on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Team members were undergoing training exercises at the property, which the city has purchased for a parking lot.
