Manitou Springs Police received a report of theft from a hotel in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. The suspect broke into a vending machine and a coin machine to remove money. Video surveillance was turned over, but officers are still trying to identify the male suspect.

 

JAN. 10

The Manitou Crisis Response Team assisted the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office with a suicidal man armed with a weapon on Gold Camp Road. After a lengthy standoff and numerous attempts to de-escalate the situation and provide assistance, law enforcement decided it would be best to leave.

 

JAN. 12

A juvenile was involved in a case of harassment by electronic communication.

At 0250 hours, officers attempted to stop a vehicle on U.S. Highway 24 near mile marker 299. The driver did not yield and drove away.

MSPD stopped a vehicle with expired registration in the 1100 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was wanted on multiple local felony and misdemeanor warrants and was transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. The suspect also was cited for multiple unrelated traffic offenses.

Officers stopped a speeding vehicle in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue and arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol.

A juvenile in need of mental health assistance was transported to a hospital from the 300 block of Pilot Knob Avenue.
