George Eber Duclo may be Manitou Springs’ best-known veteran, but Crystal Valley Cemetery is the final resting place for many others. Here is information about a few more who served their country.

Photo by Rhonda Van PeltJohn Leon Lobaugh (1916-1962) is buried at Crystal Valley Cemetery. He was born in Pueblo and registered for the draft in 1940. He enlisted in the Navy in December 1943 and was discharged in May 1945. He won medals for serving in Europe and Africa during World War II.

William Isaac Thompson (1843- 1910) was born in Liverpool, England. His family appears in the 1850 Census for Brooklyn, New York. He served in Company A, 34th Regiment, of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.

Edward Erb (1892-1982) was born in Iowa and served as a private in World War I. He enlisted in the Army in June 1918 and was discharged in June 1919. He also registered for the draft in 1942, when he was 50 years old.
