Nov. 22

Manitou Springs Police officers responded to the report of domestic violence in progress in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. They then stopped a vehicle that was leaving the scene. While investigating, the officers discovered the suspect’s vehicle had a fictitious license plate.

At 1114 hours, MSPD responded to a domestic violence in progress in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. One person was arrested for harassment.

Officers contacted a young woman regarding a missing juvenile case in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue at 1840 hours. She was not the missing person, but had failure-to-appear warrants from various jurisdictions. She was taken into custody and transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Nov. 23

During a traffic stop near Manitou Avenue and West U.S. Highway 24, officers began to suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was taken into custody and a chemical sample was collected.

At 1838 hours in the 3600 block of West Colorado Avenue, MSPD stopped a vehicle that was found to be stolen. A man was arrested for auto theft and driving under the influence of drugs.

Officers arrested a suspect at 1645 hours near Highway 24 and Serpentine Drive after the man broke into a vehicle and attempted to steal items. He also had multiple local felony warrants.

Nov. 24

At 2254 hours, MSPD responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. Once on scene, officers attempted to contact the suspect, but that person had fled the area on foot. Information was gathered from the victim, and MSPD will pursue charges.

A criminal trespass in progress was reported in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. The male suspect was reported to be panhandling and harassing customers. He was found to have an out-of-county felony warrant and was transported to CJC.

Property found near Puma Path and East Foundation Place was turned in.

MSPD was advised of a cold assault in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. The victim didn’t want the incident to be investigated, but wanted medical attention. A case report was taken.

Nov. 25

Officers responded to Old Man’s Trail after items were reportedly taken from a vehicle. There is no suspect information. The items were left in plain view while the vehicle was unattended. A police report was taken to document the theft.

A debit card was found in the MSPD lobby and was placed in safekeeping.

Nov. 26

At 0104 hours, officers responded to the 00 block of Manitou Avenue, where they came to suspect a driver was under the influence of alcohol. After an investigation, the suspect was taken into custody and a breath sample was collected. The suspect was cited and given a courtesy transport home.

A deer-versus-vehicle accident was reported in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. MSPD documented the accident; the deer had run away before officers arrived.

Nov. 27

Officers on patrol observed a vehicle moving strangely in the 1300 block of Serpentine Drive. They followed the vehicle to Higginbotham Road and Highway 24, where it stopped. They spoke to the driver, who claimed to be lost, and noticed signs that the driver might be intoxicated. The officers conducted roadside maneuvers and found the driver was under the influence.

MSPD responded to the 100 block of Manitou Avenue, where a criminal mischief incident had been reported.

A traffic accident resulting in vehicle damage occurred in the 100 block of El Paso Boulevard.

Officers responded to the report of indecent exposure in the 500 block of Cañon Avenue.

At 1814 hours, MSPD responded to a domestic violence in progress in the 200 block of Pine Ridge Avenue. After investigating, officers determined that no criminal activity had occurred; a report was taken to document one person’s escalating behavior.

Nov. 28

At 0120 hours in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue, a man reported finding his friend unconscious and not breathing in bed. Fire department/emergency medical services personnel were on scene, but terminated resuscitative efforts. The county coroner was called to the scene; no signs of trauma or foul play were noted. While on scene, MSPD officers discovered a woman with multiple felony warrants and realized she had lied about her name. She was taken into custody and booked into CJC.

Officers contacted a woman sleeping in the downtown area and discovered she had been reported missing from San Antonio. She and requested medical attention and was transported to a local hospital.

A cold trespassing incident was reported in the 00 block of Delaware Road. While MSPD officers were talking to a resident about that, they received a report of a domestic disturbance that occurred earlier that day. They investigated and contacted all involved people. The investigation didn’t result in an arrest, but a case report was taken to document the incident.

COURT UPDATE

According to the Colorado Judicial Branch’s online docket, Landon Johnston, who is accused of vandalizing Crystal Valley Cemetery in May, is due to be arraigned Thursday, Dec. 2.

Freddie Crespo is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on Friday, Dec. 3, in the May 2019 death of Jimmie Baker in downtown Manitou Springs.

Ashlynne Perez, charged with criminally negligent child abuse resulting in death, is due in court Thursday, Dec. 9, for a review hearing and Tuesday, Dec. 21, for a pre-trial conference.

Her husband, Carlos Perez, is due in court Tuesday, Dec. 21, for a pre-trial conference. Their 4-year-old son accidentally shot himself in the head July 6 outside a Manitou business.

Pawel Jakubczyk is due in court for a hearing on Friday, Dec. 17. He was the owner/operator of PJ’s Stagecoach Inn, 702 Manitou Ave., now known as Manitou Eatery.
