APRIL 23

Manitou Springs Police officers responded to a check-the-welfare request in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. A man had gotten out of his vehicle and had run into traffic, seemingly distraught. When the officers arrived, they witnessed the occupants using narcotics. The vehicle was driven away quickly, but was stopped two blocks away. The driver was arrested on driving under the influence of drugs charges and the passenger was arrested on narcotics charges. The vehicle was impounded.

 

APRIL 24

MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue, subsequently arresting one person on one count of possessing drug paraphernalia.

A juvenile was involved in an aggravated assault incident in the 300 block of Terrace Place.

Officers responded to the Manitou Springs Post Office, where a bag of marijuana was turned in after being found on the road. It will be destroyed.

 

APRIL 25

MSPD stopped a vehicle for speeding near U.S. Highway 24 and Ridge Road and learned the driver had a misdemeanor warrant in Pueblo. The warrant was personal recognizance bondable and the person was given a court date and released.

 

APRIL 27

Officers contacted a person who had stopped their car in the 2000 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

 

APRIL 28

A vehicle window was smashed and a purse was stolen in the 300 block of Beckers Lane. There is no suspect information and no camera footage is available.

 

APRIL 29

MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue and found drug paraphernalia.

An officer searching for illegal camps in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue located a man trespassing on government property. He was told to leave the area and removed his belongings, then was cited and released.

MSPD was patrolling the area of the 2500 block of Manitou Avenue and discovered a homeless man camping. When the officers asked dispatch to check on his identity, it was discovered that he had a warrant for failing to appear in court in March 2024.
