FEB. 13

The Manitou Crisis Response responded to a check-the-welfare request in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue, where a person had taken pills in an attempt to overdose. MCR discovered the person had left and was staying at a Colorado Springs hotel. MCR went to that location and assisted the Colorado Springs Police Department with placing the person on a mental health hold. The person was transported to a hospital via ambulance.

 

FEB. 14

Manitou Springs Police officers contacted a transient man trespassing on the median at Westbound U.S. Highway 24 and 31st Street. He was found to have a local misdemeanor warrant and was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

A “shots fired” report came from the vicinity of Grandview/Plainview Place. Officers collected evidence and canvassed the area for wounded people, property damage or video. At that time, no injuries or damage had been reported.

 

FEB. 15

MSPD received a report of check fraud from a business in the 500 block of Manitou Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.

An injured deer was reported to be in the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard. Its injuries were too severe and it was euthanized. Officers removed the deer from the property.

 

FEB. 17

MSPD stopped a vehicle near 21st Street and Highway 24 after it nearly hit a stopped car. The driver was then arrested for being under the influence of drugs.

 

FEB. 18

Officers located a vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue that appeared to have been broken into. After contacting the owner, MSPD determined that it had not yet been reported as stolen. The car was towed and the investigation continues.

MSPD responded to a traffic accident with vehicle damage near mile marker 299 on Highway 24. One driver was cited.

 

FEB. 19

A possible domestic dispute was reported in the 300 block of Plainview Place. Officers developed probable cause and arrested a 71-year-old Manitou Springs man for a domestic violence-related crime.

MSPD responded to the 600 block of Manitou Avenue for a possible domestic dispute. After investigating, officers were unable to corroborate witness statements.
