Ruxton Corridor air quality being monitored

To the editor:

I’d like to let everyone know that there are now three air monitors set up on the Ruxton Corridor. Everyone can access them at:
purpleair.com for the units at 145 and 626 Ruxton Avenue; and
tsilink.com for the unit on Pilot Knob Avenue.

Individuals will need to register on the websites to have access.

The air quality during the smoke-filled days registered in excess of 160. Acceptable level is 50. Several corridor residents left the area for a safer location.

I had a manual air quality study done over a number of days by Cy Cushenberry of Red Rocks Certified Home Inspection before the Cog Railway reopened. This was done to establish a base line of the air quality before the anticipated 1,000-plus car trips a day starting late May 2021.
The three permanent monitors have been operational from that same time period.

I felt it important to have some data of the impact of the greatly increased traffic going up to the Cog. It is still unknown what the full im-pact will be when all of the planned daily trips are implemented.
