To the Trails and Open Space Coalition:
Let’s not fall into the trap of the name-changing, statue-destroying idiots.
Pikes Peak is the name of “America’s Mountain.” If we were to change the name to Tava Mountain, we should also change the name of “America” to Ute, Apache, Cherokee, Hopi and on and on … Land.
This is a ridiculous concept. Let’s not degrade and diminish the culture of the Native American people by putting a disgraceful tag on the descendants of the Proud Ute people.
American history has named the mountain Pikes Peak. Leave it alone.
