City cannot release marijuana tax revenues

To the Manitou Springs community:

We place a great deal of importance on financial transparency, and just this year, launched an interactive and online budget book to make our budget easier to understand and view.

You can view the 2022 original budget here: bit.ly/MS2022Budget.

The city provides monthly and annual reporting on all of our revenue sources, part of which includes sales tax. Any revenue generated from our special marijuana sales tax is included in these sales tax numbers.

The reporting of marijuana tax revenues is not at the discretion of the city of Manitou Springs, but rather the Colorado Department of Revenue.

By law, we cannot release marijuana tax revenues with only two marijuana dispensaries operating in city limits. We understand and recognize the public’s desire to know these revenues, but it is not within our legal right to disclose.

Manitou Springs finance director
