The Trails and Open Space Coalition has released the results of its informal poll about changing the name of Pikes Peak.
After running for two weeks, 551 people voted, with:
ā¢Ā 40.65 percent in favor of not changing the mountainās name;
ā¢Ā 30.67 percent in favor of keeping Pikes Peak as the name but adding a āKnown as TavĆ” Mountain by the Ute Peopleā line; and
ā¢Ā 28.68 percent in favor of changing the name to TavĆ” Mountain.
This survey is not scientific and 551 responses donāt reflect the wishes of the entire community. However, this discussion has shown most survey participants are open to a change of some sort and the community wants to learn more about the regionās history.
