Green Box Arts Festival organizers have announced this year’s lineup for the artist in residence program.

After a rigorous application process, seven artists from across the country representing a variety of disciplines were selected for six residencies in Green Mountain Falls this year. Each residency lasts 30 days and offers artists at any stage in their career the opportunity to create new works while living in and engaging with the community.

They are:

Matthew Jamal
Taryn Vander Hoop
Jessica Kahkoska
Michael Krondl
Molly Rideout
Monica Frisell

Adam Scher

  Matthew Jamal, a New York-based composer and musician;

  Taryn Vander Hoop, a dancer, choreographer, and international yoga and dance teacher;

  Jessica Kahkoska, a Colorado Springs native and a playwright, librettist, screenwriter and performer;

  Michael Krondl, a Prague-born photographer who creates monumental installations;

  Molly Rideout, a Midwestern writer and bookmaker who will explore the Pikes Peak region’s history to create a nonfiction essay; and

  Monica Frisell, a photographer who blends elements of fine art with documentary techniques, and Adam Scher, an audiovisual artist from Seattle, who is inspired by new landscapes. They’ll bring their Nomadic Photo Ark to Green Mountain Falls, a stop on their travels to create a national project.

This year’s artists will create works for three specific projects: an audio tour that highlights historic elements of Green Mountain Falls and its outdoor art installations;  a two-dimensional work of art that will be unveiled June 18, the festival’s opening day; and a musical composition, “Green Box Suite.”

The Green Box Arts Festival will begin Saturday, June 18, and run through Monday, July 4. Information: greenboxarts.org.
