Former Manitou Springs High school teacher Matthew Barton, accused of sexual assault on a student, is scheduled to appear at a hearing on Friday, Sept. 16. A pre-trial readiness conference is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 4, and his jury trial is set to start Monday, Oct. 10, according to the Colorado Judicial Branch’s online docket.

Timothy Hilt, another former MSHS teacher accused of sexually assaulting a student, was sentenced according to the plea agreement. He has to register as a sex offender in his current place of residence within five days, and has 42 days (as of Sept. 1) for restitution. He has to obey a protection order and will spend 90 days in jail. The victim had no objection.
