I have very much been enjoying the new electric scooters that are now in Colorado Springs. I work two jobs, and have to commute between them. The distance is around 1.5 miles, so this is perfect for a scooter ride (their top speed is 15 mph), which eliminates the short car trips that are so bad for the environment.
I was wondering if the city of Manitou Springs has any plans for electric scooters? The closest ones at the moment are near West Colorado Avenue and 31st Street. It would be so useful to have the scooters in Manitou, and I would happily commute regularly to downtown Colorado Springs, as the scooter batteries have a range of around 20 miles.
Having these vehicles in Manitou would also be perfectly in line with the city’s green ethos and would be a great way to ease traffic congestion. I’m sure the tourists would really enjoy riding them in the summer months, when congestion is at its highest.
I hope that City Council will consider making electric scooters available throughout Manitou. One more significant step in greening our beautiful city.
