Serving on the board of a small community newspaper isn’t for the faint of heart. You may be called upon to deliver newspapers, haul pallets around, wrap contest entry boxes, do a little database entry, write grants, make presentations, paint newspaper boxes, set up and break down events and field questions/comments/complaints.

This is truly a working board, comprised of a group of locals who steadfastly believe in the critical importance of a community-driven newspaper. It’s not glamorous and there’s no prestige in serving on a board of such an endeavor.

Dedication, commitment and a willingness to bring time and talent are brought to bear to set up the Pikes Peak Bulletin for not only success, but long-term sustainability.

Why? Because we BELIEVE.

We believe that the work we are doing now will result in a thriving, vibrant publication that showcases Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City and the Lower Ute Pass. The Pikes Peak Bulletin presents not only the positive, the heartwarming and the uplifting stories, but it also shines an objective light on injustice, inequity and the ongoing need for lasting change.

The good, the bad and the ugly — it’s all there.

Here’s the thing: We can believe, and we can work toward the goal of sustainability, but we can’t do it without YOU. You — the subscribers, advertisers, supporters, collaborators, grantors and donors (especially the founding donors).

And there are so many ways that you can help your community newspaper succeed. Subscribe. Advertise. Donate. Volunteer! Help us get the word out.

It’s more important than ever when democracy is under attack and divisiveness is all around us.

We CAN make a difference — together.
