Bulletin joins City Matters, talks Utilities CEO pay raise

Investigative journalist Pam Zubeck and Pikes Peak Bulletin Editor Heila Ershadi joined City Matters podcast hosts Bill Murray and Gary Casimir to discuss Murray’s recent opinion piece in the Bulletin on the pay raise given to the Springs Utilities CEO (Too good of a deal for Deal, says former councilor) as well as other perspectives on the annual salary increase from $550,000 to $700,000.

The podcast team also discusses the local El Gamal family. The mother and five children were detained in a Texas ICE facility for nearly a year after the father (now estranged from the family) firebombed demonstrators who were in support of Israeli hostages. The mother and children were then almost deported despite a court order for their freedom. A local group called Jews for Due Process recently held a rally in support of the El Gamals, who have not been implicated in the father’s crime.
