Woman, 77, identified as victim in GMF fire

The person killed in a Nov. 9 fire in Green Mountain Falls has been identified. Kat Bridenbaker, 77, was found dead inside the home on Howard Street.

Neighbors saw the flames and called 911; one, an off-duty firefighter, attempted to enter the home but couldn’t due to the intense heat.

The Green Mountain Falls Fire Department responded, but the house was already engulfed in flames. Those firefighters discovered the body.

The Pikes Peak Regional Fire Investigations Unit examined the scene and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday that the deadly fire was not considered suspicious.
