Give! Nonprofit profile: Atlas Schools

What

Atlas is a K-12, tuition-free charter school in Southeast Colorado Springs. Through our commitment to educational excellence, character development, and active community engagement, we holistically equip our diverse student body with the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue their unique paths in life.

Why

Atlas serves:

1225 Students

91.5% Low-income families

61.3% English learners

80 Families at our food pantry weekly

188 Athletes

Without Atlas, finances would be a barrier to school supply, sports, and club access. English Learners would lack necessary supports, and many families would struggle for food. By supporting Atlas, you are investing beyond K-12 education; you are investing in the future of our community.

Goals

By July 2025, Atlas Middle School will complete an addition and renovation project. Funds raised will specifically support construction of the school’s first ever full-sized gym. This addition will make daily physical activity accessible for hundreds of students through PE and 5 new sports.

Did you know

The main barriers low-income families face to participate in sports are financial cost and time commitment. Atlas covers all sports fees and bus transportation following all after-school activities.

“I have not for one minute regretted my decision to send my kids to Atlas! Not only do they thrive here academically, but they practically run out the door each morning with a smile! Atlas is the perfect blend of kindness and structure my kids so need and deserve. I’m so thankful that I found you.” — Atlas Parent

Give! Nonprofit profile: Westside CARES

What

Westside CARES is neighbors helping neighbors. It prevents homelessness through food, clothing, laundry, healthcare, ID cards, mail, utilities, or rent assistance; and it supports people experiencing homelessness in achieving housing, work, and health goals. Each year the nearly 22,000 neighbors we serve can rely on a safe space, where everyone is valued, to access the services they need to overcome financial setbacks and achieve their goals.

Why

Westside CARES never gives up on its neighbors because we know that community is vital for transformation. We engage relationships to leverage both preventative and remedial programs, and design solutions that meet a neighbor’s specific needs, amplifying key programs to address emerging needs. We meet neighbors where they are, as they are, and support them as they achieve their own goals for home, health, and hope.

Goals

With your help, Westside CARES can build on its 40-year history of providing responsive preventative and remedial services to our neighbors. Together, we can prevent homelessness for 500 families, help 50 houseless neighbors into forever homes, provide healthy food for 10,000 neighbors, and more.

Did you know

In 2023, Westside CARES prevented 586 evictions and helped 56 previously homeless neighbors into housing. Both programs have a 90% retention rate.

“Westside CARES helped me obtain a Colorado ID, helped me get my glasses, and helped me get my own place after being unhoused since 2015. I received mail, household items and food from WSC, but above all they have been my main moral support. Because of their kindness I didn’t lose hope.” — Kandy, a Westside CARES neighbor
