Facing a little tougher competition at the Harrison Panther Invite on March 19, the Manitou Springs track teams still came away with impressive results.

The Mustang boys finished fourth in the team standings, and when looking at the individual results, those who were expected to compete well did just that.

Lairden Rogge put on a bit of sprinting show as he finished second in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dash. His 52.17 seconds in the 400 would’ve gotten him on the podium last spring, but he knows there is still plenty of work to do.

Harrison was also the season debut for Henry Ilyasova and the senior looks primed to compete for some distance titles at state. He finished fifth in the 800 and second in the 1600.

Kian O’Boyle also captured a top-10 finish in the 800 and followed that with a second-place finish in the 300 hurdles. John Maynard captured top-10 finishes in the high jump and the long jump, while Parker Salladay finished in the top 10 in both the discus and the shot put.

Mustang Isabella Coscetti takes her second triple jump of the day during the March 19 Harrison Panther Invitational.

On the girls’ side, Bella Coscetti continues to build toward what should be an impressive state meet for her. She finished second in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the long jump.

The Manitou girls finished tied for 11th in the team standings but, like the boys, got good results in the areas where they were supposed to get good results.

The Mustangs took the spring break week off competition and will be back on the track April 2, when they head to Dutch Clark Stadium for the Pueblo County Hornet Invite. Over the next month, the Mustangs will compete in several meets that should push them to keep improving and perform at their highest level.

They have goals for what they want to accomplish this year, and the early results indicate they are on the way to doing just that.
