AUGUST 27

MSPD officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 500 block of El Paso Blvd. Suspect arrested on charges and outstanding warrants. 

Officers responded to what was determined to be an unattended death of natural causes in the 1300 block of Indian Oaks.

Officers took a report of a stolen license plate in the 00 block of Manitou Ave. The plate was entered into a national database as stolen. 

Officers responded to a “check the welfare” call for service in the Beckers neighborhood. One subject was transported to the hospital for mental health reasons. 

 

AUGUST 28

The Manitou Springs Police Department located an abandoned scooter at a local park. The vehicle had expired registration, and the owner could not be located. The vehicle was impounded, and a case report was taken to document the impound. 

The Manitou Springs Police Department conducted a patrol check west of Manitou Springs in a known popular area for illegal camps. While conducting a search of the area, officers located several people in a large illegal camp. The individuals were identified and issued citations. Officers will conduct follow-up in the area. 

An officer with the Manitou Springs Police Department located a female party known to have an active warrant for her arrest in the 800 block of Manitou Ave. Prior to making contact with the female party the warrant was confirmed to be valid. Officers contacted the female party and took her into custody. The female suspect was transported and booked into CJC. 

Officers responded to a traffic accident involving a fire truck in the 300 block of Canon Ave. Nobody was hurt in the incident 

 

AUGUST 29

MSPD responded to a one vehicle vs a deer traffic accident on westbound West Highway 24 with no injuries. The reporting party stated the deer ran off towards the north. Officers checked the area for an injured deer and were not able to locate one. 

Officers responded to a business in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue on a report of criminal mischief. A male driving a white Dodge Challenger Scat Pack appeared to intentionally punch the mirror of another vehicle causing the mirror to break. Officers reviewed video footage, but the suspect is currently unknown.

The Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a male party locked inside of a public restroom in the 100 block of El Paso Boulevard for an extended period of time. Officers were able to make contact with the male party and he was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. The male suspect was taken into custody and booked into CJC for his warrant. 

Officers responded to a theft in the downtown area in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers were able to locate and detain the suspect, but ultimately did not locate the stolen product and released the suspect without charges. A case report was taken to document the incident. 

 

AUGUST 30

Officers received a cold theft for another ebike that was stolen on Aug. 27. There is no suspect info or video evidence available. A serial number was provided, and the bike was entered as stolen. 

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 300 Manitou Ave. One subject was subsequently arrested for DUI. 

Officers responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident at Clarksley and Sutherland Rd. One driver appeared to have run a stop sign causing the vehicles to crash. A ticket was issued to the at-fault driver and both parties were provided case report numbers. 

The Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance between a male and female party. The parties were separated, and an investigation began. One of the parties was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The investigation is ongoing. 

Officers responded in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue on reports of a trespass in progress. The suspect was identified and had several warrants. The suspect was booked into CJC on two El Paso Sheriff’s Office warrants. 

During a dispute with a girlfriend, a 24-year-old male broke the window of a hotel room in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. An investigation is ongoing. 

Officers located a subject in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue who was known to have outstanding arrest warrants. A homeless 24-year-old male was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and transported to the El Paso County Jail. 

Officers responded to a menacing incident involving a firearm on Narrows Road. Officers located the vehicle and the gun, and the suspect was arrested and taken to CJC without incident. 

 

AUGUST 31

Officers responded to a cold DV. The reporting party stated her ex-boyfriend broke her rear patio door window. Officers attempted to contact suspect, but the suspect did not answer calls and his current address is unknown. Based on the reporting party’s statement there is probable cause for an arrest. Warrant will be issued next week if suspect isn’t arrested beforehand. 

A cell phone was turned in as found to the Manitou Springs Police Department. 

 

SEPTEMBER 1

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop near Manitou Avenue and Crystal Hills, but the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle eventually stopped in the 3700 block of W. Colorado Avenue. The driver, a 37-year-old Massachusetts man was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI, impersonating a police officer, and resisting arrest. The subject was transported to the El Paso County Jail.
