Sept. 5

During a traffic stop near Manitou Avenue and Old Man’s Trail, Manitou Springs Police officers discovered a passenger had local misdemeanor warrants. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

At 0853 hours, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue. The driver did not yield and caused a traffic accident, and was apprehended and transported to CJC on multiple charges.

MSPD contacted a person wanted on a local misdemeanor warrant in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue at 0900 hours. The suspect was arrested and taken to CJC.

A statutory rape (victim younger than 16) was reported; the location is unknown.

At 1540 hours, officers responded to a traffic accident with vehicle damage at U.S. Highway 24 and the Washington Bypass. One driver was cited.

MSPD observed a vehicle with fictitious plates being driven in the 300 block of South 31st Street. The driver parked in a nearby business’ parking lot and officers noticed drug paraphernalia in the car. When the driver returned to the vehicle, he was cited for possessing narcotics equipment, among other charges.

Officers responded to a cold hit-and-run accident reported in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue. The victim’s vehicle was struck while parked on the side of the street. The investigation continues.

A domestic violence in progress was reported in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. The suspect was alleged to have pushed his girlfriend before taking her car and driving while intoxicated. MSPD located him after he crashed the car in nearby unincorporated El Paso County. The suspect was evaluated at a local hospital, then booked into CJC.

Sept. 6

MSPD responded with the Manitou Springs Fire Department on a call to Cliff Road. A suspect was later arrested on out-of-county felony warrants.

A theft was reported at a store in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers viewed surveillance footage, but were unable to locate the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

A vehicle’s window was broken while parked in front of the owner’s home in the 800 block of Duclo Avenue. Details were similar to other cases involving broken vehicle windows.

While near Old Man’s Trail, officers came in contact with a man with a local misdemeanor warrant. He was taken into custody and booked into CJC.

Sept. 7

At 2300 hours, MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver, who fled on foot, was found to have multiple warrants from several agencies. Officers caught the suspect and he was transported to CJC.

Sept. 8

In the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue, MSPD contacted a man matching the description of a wanted party after running a license plate associated with him. Officers arrested him on misdemeanor warrants and he was booked into CJC.

A disturbance in the 100 block of Ruxton Avenue was reported. When officers arrived, the suspect had left the scene. Due to lack of evidence, no action has been taken.

MSPD responded to a local hospital regarding a sexual assault in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers were unable to gain enough probable cause for an arrest, but the details have been documented.

At 1830 hours, someone reported that his car mirror had been broken in the 100 block of Ruxton Avenue. The suspect was not located, but a summons to be served has been filed.

MSPD responded to a cold theft in the 100 block of El Paso Boulevard, where an E-bike was stolen. The investigation continues.

Sept. 9

Officers responded to an assault report in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue. The suspect was found and charged with third-degree assault and menacing.

While patrolling in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue, MSPD located two homeless camps. One person was found to have an out-of-county misdemeanor warrant and was later released with a personal recognizance bond.

Officers responded to a hazard reported near mile marker 298 on Highway 24. While there, they discovered a vehicle had fictitious license plates. They were seized and the driver was issued a summons.

A disturbance was reported in the 100 block of Crystal Hills Boulevard. A woman was found to be in violation of a protection order and a summons was issued for her arrest.

Sept. 10

A violation of a protection order was reported in the 200 block of Pilot Knob Avenue. While investigating, MSPD was provided enough probable cause for an arrest.

Sept. 11

Officers responded to a domestic violence in progress in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue. A man was found to be violating a protection order; he was taken into custody and booked into CJC.

MSPD checked on a group of people illegally camping in the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue. Two of the people had local misdemeanor warrants, and they were arrested and transported to CJC.
