Aug. 8
Manitou Springs Police officers noticed a vehicle driving east on Manitou Avenue; when they ran the license plate, it came back as “no record.” Dispatch also ran the plate and it came back as having expired registration. The officers stopped the vehicle in the 3200 block of West Colorado Avenue and learned the driver had a suspended license and a fictitious license plate.

MSPD observed a person driving who they knew had a suspended license. After stopping the vehicle at 32nd Street and West Colorado Avenue, they also found he had no car insurance. The vehicle was impounded and the driver cited and released.

Aug. 9
At 1300 hours, officers responded to the intersection of Lovers Lane and El Paso Boulevard after a vehicle’s window was broken out.

A vehicle was broken into in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue and a backpack was taken. Officers completed a list of the items stolen and documented the vehicle damage.

Aug. 10
A domestic violence in progress was reported in the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard. MSPD contacted both people involved, and arrested one person for harassment related to domestic violence.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue after receiving a tip from an El Paso County deputy. The vehicle was towed.

Aug. 11
A Kindle Fire was turned in to the MSPD after being found.

Aug. 12
MSPD responded after a man reported he had struck a vehicle in the 700 block of Duclo Avenue. Officers documented the incident in case anyone else comes forward.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office asked for assistance with a suspicious vehicle in the 2100 block of B Street. MSPD discovered that the vehicle had been stolen and returned it to its owner. The investigation continues.

A juvenile was suspected of being a Peeping Tom in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue.

At 2255 hours, MSPD responded to the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard, where a domestic violence in progress had been reported. A man there was found to have multiple warrants, and was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Officers patrolling downtown on foot were given a lost credit card. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Aug. 13
A juvenile was involved in a harassment incident in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue.

MSPD received multiple calls to check the welfare of someone who was screaming, walking down the middle of the street and trying to hit vehicles. The person was placed on a medical hold and transported by ambulance to a medical facility.

A theft was reported from a store in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. Suspects were identified, but had left before officers arrived.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of Manitou Avenue and westbound U.S. Highway 24. The driver eluded police.

Aug. 14
At 0010 hours, a person approached officers to report their rental car had been stolen from the 1200 block of Manitou Avenue. The vehicle has not been located and there is no suspect information.

MSPD stopped a vehicle near the intersection of westbound Highway 24 and Manitou Avenue at 1715 hours. The driver was arrested on a local misdemeanor warrant and taken to CJC. Due to the multiple traffic offenses, the vehicle was impounded.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Prospect Place after a domestic violence incident was reported. They found the male suspect had violated a protection order, then left the scene. MSPD was unable to locate him, but continue to search.
