At 1539 hours, Manitou Springs Police officers responded to an abandoned vehicle in the 700 block of Prospect Place and had it towed.
Jan. 10
A suspicious incident was reported in the 100 block of Crystal Hills Boulevard, and police responded at 2046 hours. A circular hole had been cut in a window, near the lock. Nothing was reported missing and no intruder was found in the residence. There is no suspect information.
Jan. 11
At 0731 hours, MSPD responded to a cold criminal trespass (auto) in the 00 block of Hydro Street.
A cold burglary with forced entry (residence) was reported in the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard, and officers responded at 1400 hours. There is no suspect information.
At 2128 hours, MSPD responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. After investigating on scene, officers determined it was non-criminal; one person on the scene was found to have a felony warrant from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Jan. 12
A person with an outstanding warrant went to the police station and was issued a new court date.
MSPD responded to a criminal trespass in progress in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue at 0416 hours. A local business reported that a man was refusing to leave. Manitou officers had previously advised him that he could not enter that and other properties, and he had signed a trespass notice. He was issued a summons for trespassing.
At 1016 hours, officers stopped a vehicle in the 3600 block of West Colorado Avenue and arrested the driver on a local misdemeanor warrant.
MSPD responded to a criminal trespass in progress reported in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue at 2157 hours. Once on scene, the reporting party said it was the same suspect dealt with on previous occasions. A case report was taken and will be documented.
Jan. 13
Manitou officers responded to a burglary reported in the 00 block of Maple Lane. The victim said that his residence was broken into and several firearms were stolen. The details were entered into the National Crime Information Center database. At this time, there is no suspect information, but the investigation is ongoing.
Jan. 14
A juvenile is being investigating on a statutory rape charge.
Officers contacted a driver parked across the street from the Manitou Springs Police Station, with the vehicle’s hazard lights on during inclement weather. The driver smelled like alcohol and admitted consuming multiple alcoholic beverages. The officers conducted a roadside sobriety test and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
MSPD located a stolen vehicle near 26th Street and St. Anthony Street. A stolen license plate attached on the rear was seized as evidence. The vehicle was towed and the owner was notified.
Jan. 15
Manitou officers responded to a traffic accident with public property damage on U.S. Highway 24. Upon arrival, they confirmed it was a low-speed, non-injury accident and investigation revealed it was related to the recent snowfall.
MSPD took a report of domestic violence that had occurred Jan. 1 in the 800 block of Prospect Place.
Officers stopped a vehicle in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue. The license plates did not belong to the vehicle. The driver was cited and the license plates were seized as evidence.
Jan. 16
Manitou officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. The male driver was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. After a brief investigation, he was cited and released.
COURT UPDATE
According to the Colorado Judicial Branch’s online docket, Landon Johnston, who is accused of vandalizing Crystal Valley Cemetery in May, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, Jan. 20.
Matthew Barton, a former Manitou Springs High School teacher accused of sexually assaulting a student, is due back in court Tuesday, Jan. 25, for a hearing to file charges.
Ashlynne Perez, charged with criminally negligent child abuse resulting in death, is due in court for arraignment on Thursday, Jan. 27. Her 4-year-old son accidentally shot himself in the head July 6 outside a Manitou business.
Her husband, Carlos Perez, is due back in court on Tuesday, Jan. 25, for a hearing about a permanent restraining order.
Timothy Hilt, a former District 14 teacher accused of sexually assaulting a student, will be in court for a preliminary hearing on Thursday, Feb. 10.
