Dec. 27

The Manitou Springs Police Department received a report of a cold assault in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. An officer investigated and created a summons that was served to the suspect.

Dec. 28

At 1015 hours, MSPD responded to a report of found property in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. Ammunition was discovered.

Power tools were found in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue and reported at 1045 hours.

Dec. 30

A property owner in the 100 block of Lover’s Lane had 30 days to make adjustments after an Oct. 13 inspection found violations. She has not complied.

At 0145 hours, a domestic violence incident was reported in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers found that nothing physical had occurred.

MSPD responded to a domestic violence in progress reported in the 200 block of Santa Fe Place at 0407 hours. While officers were investigating, a man made vague allegations but refused to elaborate further. The people separated for the night, and officers took a case report; there was no probable cause for arrest.

At 0600 hours, a woman in the 00 block of Stover Lane reported that money was taken from her bank account sometime in mid-December. She needed a police report to give to her bank.

A vehicle in the 400 block of Winter Street was broken into overnight. The victim reported that his vehicle wasn’t damaged and nothing was taken, but he had video surveillance of the suspect. He wanted to notify MSPD about the incident in case other vehicles were broken into.

Officers responded to a non-injury traffic accident at the intersection of Manitou Avenue and the westbound ramps to U.S. Highway 24. One driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic before attempting to make a left turn. A vehicle was damaged and towed from the scene and the at-fault driver was cited and released.

MSPD located a homeless camp near the intersection of Ridge Road and West Colorado Avenue, where a fire was burning in a pit while weather conditions posed a serious risk of wildfire. The person responsible was cited and released. Also, a person there was found to have a local misdemeanor warrant, and was issued a personal recognizance bond and released.

At 2306 hours, officers contacted people in a homeless camp in the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue. A man was issued a summons for arson; he had an illegal campfire during dangerous weather conditions.

Dec. 31

Officers located graffiti in public rest areas in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue at 0300 hours, but no suspect information is available. The Public Works Department was asked to take care of it.

At 0524 hours, MSPD responded to a check-the-welfare request about a vehicle that had been parked in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue for several hours. After investigating, officers took the driver into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. A blood sample was collected, and the driver was issued a summons for DUID and possession of a controlled substance (amphetamines).

A found cell phone was turned in at the police station.

MSPD responded to a traffic accident with vehicle damage in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. There were minor injuries, but neither driver was transported to the hospital.

A non-injury traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Manitou Avenue and El Paso Boulevard. One driver failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic before attempting to make a left turn. The at-fault driver was cited and released.

MSPD stopped a vehicle with fictitious license plates at West Colorado Avenue and 28th Street. One occupant was wanted on two local felony warrants and the driver was charged with possession of schedule II narcotics (amphetamines).

Jan. 1

Officers responded to a domestic violence report in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. After investigating, they identified the primary aggressor and arrested the person for assault. The suspect was transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Jan. 2

While speaking to a citizen in the Manitou Springs Police Station, officers discovered he had a local misdemeanor warrant. He was assigned a new court date and released.

At 1828 hours, MSPD responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of Clarksley Road. People were identified and the officers investigated. The El Paso County Department of Human Resources will be notified of the incident.

COURT UPDATE

According to the Colorado Judicial Branch’s online docket, the arraignment for Landon Johnston, who is accused of vandalizing Crystal Valley Cemetery in May, has been postponed to  Thursday, Jan. 20.

Ashlynne Perez, charged with criminally negligent child abuse resulting in death, is due in court for arraignment on Thursday, Jan. 27.  Her 4-year-old son accidentally shot himself in the head July 6 outside a Manitou business.

Jacob Carley, the former Manitou police officer accused of sending revenge porn, is scheduled for a disposition hearing on Friday, Jan. 14.
