OCTOBER 8

MSPD officers attempted to stop a sport style motorcycle on 33rd street and W. Colorado Avenue. The driver fled. While canvassing the area, officers located the motorcycle abandoned in the area. The motorcycle was recovered by a local tow service and removed from the scene. Through investigation the driver was identified, and an arrest warrant was drafted. The warrant was approved on Oct. 9 and, as officers were returning from getting the warrant signed, they observed the male party. He was subsequently arrested and lodged at CJC.

During a change-of-custody audit for the Manitou Springs Police Department, an officer discovered an unmarked manila envelope containing gun parts.

 

OCTOBER 9

MSPD officers located a male party with an active felony arrest warrant. That male party was taken into custody. While conducting a search incident to arrest a methamphetamine smoking pipe and a set of metallic knuckles were located. The male party was summonsed for the possession and lodges at CJC for the active warrant.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle with no license plate in the 3400 block of W. Colorado Avenue. The vehicle drove recklessly away, nearly hitting other vehicles. Officers did not pursue the vehicle.

Officers stopped a vehicle to check on the driver due to weaving, varying speeds, and driving well under the speed limit in the area of Manitou Avenue and Crystal Hills. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.

 

OCTOBER 10

Officers were sent a case report from CSPD regarding a theft that occurred in July in Manitou in the 000 block of Manitou Avenue. Subsequent crimes were committed with the stolen items in CSPD’s jurisdiction. Manitou officers reached out to the victim to properly document the initial theft.

Two unknown subjects removed candy from an establishment in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue without paying for the items. An investigation is ongoing.

OCTOBER 12

Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of 31st street and Manitou Ave. due to the trailer being pulled not having a license plate. After running the license plate on the truck, officers realized that the license plate was fictitious, a criminal traffic violation.

Officers contacted an individual in the 3000 block of Manitou Ave. to check on her welfare. She was subsequently arrested for DUI.

 

OCTOBER 13

Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 300 block of Manitou Ave. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.

Officers stopped a suspected shoplifter in the 000 block of Manitou Avenue. When the subject was arrested for the shoplifting, he was found to have illegal drugs and paraphernalia on his person.

MSPD officers responded to a suspicious weapon found on the sidewalk in the 000 block of Manitou Avenue. The weapon was collected and a case report was taken for information. Nothing suspicious at this time.

 

OCTOBER 14

MSPD officers contacted a wanted individual sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue. He was arrested and charged with other criminal violations associated with his vehicle.

MSPD officers responded to a report of a possible missing person. Officers collected initial information, and the party was entered into NCIC/CCIC as missing. Officers are awaiting additional information from the party’s family and friends.
