OCT. 24

Manitou Springs Police personnel placed found property into the evidence facility.

Officers discovered a suspicious vehicle in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue and learned that it was stolen. It had stolen license plates inside and out, and a man under the influence of drugs was inside. He was arrested and provided a chemical sample, and then was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on multiple charges.


OCT. 25

MSPD took a report of criminal trespass (vehicle) in the 00 block of Via Chula Vista. Several items were taken from the unlocked car parked in front of the victim’s residence. No suspect information is available.


OCT. 26

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle near Manitou Avenue and West U.S. Highway 24, but the driver drove away. The officers did not pursue; they are investigating leads.


OCT. 27

MSPD responded to assist the Manitou Springs Fire Department after a fire was reported on Higginbotham Road. Officers located a man on a bicycle in the area and determined that he was responsible for the fire. He was found to have a local misdemeanor warrant and, while they were taking him into custody, officers discovered drug paraphernalia. He was cited and booked into CJC.

A missing person was reported in the 00 block of Oklahoma Road.

A man was reported to have driven his vehicle from the roadway onto property in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers investigated on scene and arrested him for driving under the influence of drugs. He was later released with a summons after providing a chemical test.

A woman with a possible arrest warrant was reported to be in a residence in the 300 block of Ruxton Avenue. Officers located her and arrested a 40-year-old Manitou resident on a misdemeanor warrant from Teller County.


OCT. 28

A suspect was arrested near 30th Street and West Colorado Avenue. The charges were criminal traffic violation, possession of a synthetic narcotic, possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated assault on a police officer.

A person became upset at staff at a business in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. The suspect began throwing rocks at employees and the building. The investigation is ongoing.

A vehicle was towed from the 900 block of Manitou Avenue to make room for the Emma Crawford Coffin Races.

MSPD and MSFD responded to the 00 block of Manitou Avenue, where a cardiac arrest had been reported. A deceased man was discovered; MSPD investigated and found the death was not suspicious.

A stolen vehicle was reported, but officers were unable to locate it. The details were entered into a crime database, but MSPD later located the vehicle on the other side of town and notified the owner.


OCT. 29

At 1400 hours in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue, MSPD contacted a man wanted on a violent felony warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to CJC.


OCT. 30

Officers responded to the 300 block of Manitou Avenue, where a theft in progress had been reported. When they arrived, they contacted the suspects and investigated. The two suspects received summons for theft.

A gun was found in snow in the 100 block of Ruxton Avenue and reported to MSPD. Officers checked a law enforcement database and it had not been reported stolen or missing. The gun will be submitted to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation for testing, then held in safekeeping.
