OCTOBER 21
Manitou Springs Police Officers responded to a hit and run traffic accident call for service that occurred in the zero-hundred block of Manitou Ave. The suspect was identified and charged with a misdemeanor summons.
OCTOBER 22
During inventory at the Manitou Springs Police Department, a shelf full of unmarked ammunition, unassociated to a case, was found clustered together in Firearms Cabinet 1.
During the partial inventory of a destruction shelf, untagged electronics were found.
MSPD responded to a report of an impersonation of a police officer, where an unknown law enforcement officer had conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 24; given the evidence presented, it is suspected that the “law enforcement officer” was impersonating.
MSPD officers responded to a report of a bicycle theft that had occurred in the 100 block of Ruxton Avenue. No suspect information.
OCTOBER 23
MSPD was conducting patrol checks in the Downtown Manitou Springs area when they observed a male sleeping in the middle of the sidewalk. MSPD woke the male up to advise of City ordinances; the male woke up aggressive and threatened officers with physical violence. MSPD attempted to detain the male although he resisted. The male was charged with Disorderly and Resisting.
MSPD Officers took a party into custody, resulting in locating controlled substance. Party had stipulation in a protection order against controlled substances. Party was transported and lodged at CJC.
MSPD officers contacted apparently homeless individuals trespassing in the 000 block of Manitou Avenue. One of them attempted to run from officers, albeit unsuccessfully. Illegal drugs were seized, including fentanyl.
Officers responded to a cold harassment involving possible stalking. The reporting party did not want to press charges but wanted the incident documented. A case report was taken for information.
Officers located a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was fingerprinted and towed. The owner was contacted and the investigation is ongoing.
OCTOBER 24
Officers responded to a disturbance in the 500 block of Canon Avenue. Officers investigated by interviewing involved parties which developed probable cause for the charge of third-degree assault. The suspect was served and released with a summons.
OCTOBER 25
Officers investigated a reported disturbance in the 600 block of Ruxton. No charges were brought at this time.
MSPD evidence technician located evidence items stored improperly and relocated them to appropriate areas.
MSPD conducted a traffic stop with a motorcycle with a driver known to not have a valid driver license. The motorcycle was impounded, and the driver was released with a citation.
An unknown subject or subjects broke into and attempted to steal a vehicle from the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. An investigation is ongoing.
Officers stopped a vehicle for swerving and observing a child standing in the vehicle. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI and child abuse. He was also taken to jail on warrants. Officers stopped a vehicle for swerving. Officers also observed a child standing in the vehicle. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI and child abuse. He was also found to have 2 warrants. He was taken to CJC without incident.
OCTOBER 26
Officers stopped a vehicle for weaving across the width of the roadway in the 000 block of Manitou Avenue. The subject was found to be DUI and taken into custody.
Officers towed a couple vehicles in the downtown area for an event.
Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Manitou Avenue regarding a possible domestic dispute. Officers investigated the reports and placed a male and a female under arrest for domestic violence harassment.
OCTOBER 28
MSPD Officers on patrol observed a known male party to be on a property he was trespassed from. The party was detained and issued a summons for trespassing.
MSPD officers recovered a found bicycle that is suspected to be an unreported stolen bicycle.
MSPD officers attempted to locate a wanted suspect in the 000 block of Manitou Avenue. He was apprehended after attempting to close officers out of his room.
