MAY 21

Manitou Springs Police officers responded to a traffic accident in the 00 block of Cañon Avenue. The driver told Manitou Springs Fire Department personnel that he was under the influence of drugs; he was arrested.

 

MAY 22

Officers stopped a speeding vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue and discovered the driver was under the influence of alcohol and had narcotics equipment.

A criminal trespass in progress was reported at the self-storage complex on Higginbotham Road. When officers arrived, they saw the suspect leaving the area. They were able to apprehend the suspect and took him into custody. He was booked at the El Paso County Community Justice Center for charges including forgery, and his vehicle was impounded.

MSPD responded to a possible domestic violence call from the 100 block of Beckers Lane. A suspect was reportedly chasing another person. Charges are pending.

 

MAY 23

A vehicle was reported stolen from the 00 block of Manitou Avenue and officers recovered it without incident. No charges were filed at that time.

Multiple people called to report that a man carrying a skateboard was throwing objects at vehicles and broke the front window of a house. MSPD located the suspect at the skate park on El Paso Boulevard and arrested him on a serve-and-release court summons for criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.

A disturbance was reported in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. After an investigation, no charges were issued.

At 2113 hours, officers responded to a reported kidnapping in the 500 block of Manitou Avenue; they later determined that it had not occurred.

 

MAY 24

Officers stopped a swerving vehicle near westbound U.S. Highway 24 and 31st Street. The driver was subsequently arrested for being under the influence of drugs.

MSPD contacted a man in his vehicle in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue and observed drug paraphernalia. While searching the vehicle, officers located drugs. The suspect was cited for possessing amphetamines and narcotic equipment, and was released.

In the 3700 block of West Colorado Avenue, officers contacted a man passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. He appeared to be under the influence and was warned to not drive in that condition. Soon after, they saw the vehicle on the road and arrested the driver for being under the influence of drugs.

A resident in the 100 block of Via San Miguel reported that a check had been written and cashed from a checkbook that was in a vehicle stolen a few days earlier. Suspect information is available and a warrant will be issued for fraud. MSPD has not been able to link the suspect to the stolen vehicle.

 

MAY 26

At 1844 hours, an officer responded to a cold report of criminal mischief in the 400 block of Ruxton Avenue. The suspect and alleged victim agreed to resolve the matter in civil court.

Climbing gear valued at $1,000 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Pawnee Avenue. Video of a suspect was captured on surveillance cameras.

A road rage incident that turned into a hit-and-run accident occurred in the 100 block of Lovers Lane. The investigation continues.

 

MAY 27

An officer attempted to stop a vehicle being driven recklessly in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver did not stop and hit another vehicle, then left the area.
