MARCH 18
Officers responded to a report of a cold criminal mischief (domestic violence) call for service near W. Pikes Peak Avenue and Ridge Road. One suspect was subsequently identified and charged on several charges.
Officers encountered an illegal camper in the area of W. Colorado Avenue and Ridge Road. One party was subsequently served and released with a citation.
MARCH 19
Officers responded to an address on Washington Avenue for an outside agency assist with the Manitou Springs Fire Department. A male party at the address was determined to be deceased. There were no indications of foul play. The El Paso County Coroners Office responded and assumed the remainder of the investigation.
The Manitou Crisis Response Team (MCR) responded to a suicidal check the welfare involving a suicidal subject who left home with a firearm. MCR and other MSPD officers were able to locate the subject. Following investigation, the subject was placed on a mental health hold and transported to a local treatment center for evaluation.
Officers located damage to the bathroom at Fields Park. An investigation is ongoing.
MARCH 20
Officers contacted a party in the police station lobby, who wanted to report a fraud. Officers investigated the alleged fraud and discovered the case to be non-criminal.
MARCH 21
A male was arrested for DUI on Highway 24.
Officers responded to a criminal trespass in progress on W. Colorado Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they identified the suspect, and the suspect returned wanted out of EPSO for an FTA misdemeanor warrant. The suspect was arrested and transported to CJC without incident.
MARCH 22
MSPD received a report of a vehicle vs parked vehicle accident in the 300 block of Canon Avenue. Officers responded and located a vehicle that side swiped a parked vehicle. No injuries, driver remained on scene. Report taken.
MARCH 23
Officers stopped a vehicle for swerving on W. Colorado Avenue. The vehicle then backed into a police patrol vehicle. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Officers responded to a verbal domestic violence in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. Upon further investigation it was learned that one half of the couple had slapped the other half. The party who slapped their partner was arrested on DV harassment.
MSPD officers responded to a cold domestic violence event in the 1300 block of Manitou Avenue. Investigation continues.
Officers conducted a check-the-welfare on a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI and possession of a firearm by a felon, among other charges.
