A Manitou Springs Police officer was notified that a victim and a witness in the same case were receiving harassing messages via social media. The investigation is ongoing.

May 22

A trailer was broken into and a license plate was stolen in the 00 block of Sutherland Place. There is no suspect information.

MSPD stopped a speeding vehicle in the 3600 block of West Colorado Avenue. The driver was cited for multiple traffic violations.

At 1942 hours, officers responded to Hydro Street, where an assault involving a weapon had just occurred. MSPD began immediately giving aid to a man covered in blood. Manitou Springs Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the man, whose condition was unknown. MSPD asked the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the investigation. After nine hours of investigating, MSPD was clearing the area when the suspect was located and taken into custody. He was interviewed and transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, charged with attempted first-degree murder.

May 23

Officers contacted a woman camping in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue. After speaking with her, they learned she had a local misdemeanor warrant. She was taken into custody and transported to CJC.

MSPD responded to a report of public indecency in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. The suspect was charged and arrested on a local misdemeanor warrant.

May 24

Officers responded to the 100 block of Manitou Avenue, where a possible trespass in progress had been reported. During the investigation, they discovered the male suspect had a local misdemeanor warrant; he was booked into CJC.

May 25

A juvenile was involved in a harassment incident in the 00 block of Sutherland Place.

May 26

At 0048 hours, MSPD stopped a vehicle near mile marker 297/Cave of the Winds Road on westbound U.S. Highway 24. The officers arrested the driver on out-of-county misdemeanor warrants and seized drug paraphernalia.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue for multiple traffic violations. The driver was cited and the vehicle was impounded because the driver didn’t have a license or insurance.

MSPD received a report of identity theft in the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard. The investigation is ongoing.

At 2249 hours, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle near Highway 24 and 31st Street, but the driver didn’t yield. MSPD was able to identify the driver and vehicle, and an arrest warrant will be issued.

May 27

MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 3600 block of West Colorado Avenue and arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol.

A cold domestic violence incident was reported in the 00 block of Grand Avenue. After investigating, officers took a woman into custody for third-degree assault.

A 31-year-old Wisconsin man was transported to a hospital after falling into Fountain Creek near the 300 block of Manitou Avenue. Some of his property was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

May 28

MSPD responded to an accident between a city bus and a parked vehicle in the 100 block of Ruxton Avenue.
