June 26

On the Midland Trail near West Colorado Avenue and Ridge Road, Manitou Springs Police officers contacted a homeless person with an out-of-county felony warrant. The officers took him into custody and transported him to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

While on routine foot patrol near the intersection of West Colorado Avenue and Ridge Road, officers checking for illegal camps contacted a family that included three young children. The father was arrested on felony warrants and the El Paso County Department of Human Services was called. The family was provided resources and shelter beds under the condition the mother could pass a drug test.

MSPD responded to a traffic accident with injury and vehicle damage on U.S. Highway 24 near mile marker 298. Officers investigated and cleared the scene.

A multi-vehicle traffic accident occurred near Manitou Avenue and South Path, and one driver fled in their vehicle. MSPD does not have suspect information.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. While on scene, they identified one person with multiple felony warrants from various states. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into CJC.

A woman was pepper sprayed during a disturbance in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. She was unable to provide any details about who did it. Officers conducted a thorough canvass in the area, but no suspect information is available.

June 27

Officers were patrolling on foot near the 2500 block of Manitou Avenue (the Greenstone Quarry) and contacted a man who was trespassing. He also had two stolen motorcycles and was wanted on felony and misdemeanor warrants from El Paso County. He was booked into CJC.

At 1226 hours, MSPD responded to a traffic accident near mile marker 298 on Highway 24. No one was injured and the drivers exchanged information.

A sexual assault was reported in the 300 block of Ruxton Avenue. Officers responded on June 27 and 29, and determined the reports were unfounded.

A cold theft was reported in the 200 block of Iron Road.

MSPD stopped a vehicle near Manitou Avenue and West Colorado Avenue. The driver was suspected to be under the influence of drugs and was cited.

June 28

Officers responded to a disturbance in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. They discovered that a woman had assaulted multiple people; she was cited for assault and harassment.

MSPD responded to a traffic accident with injuries in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue. After an investigation, a man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. He was transported to a hospital for a blood draw, then driven home, where he was issued a summons and released.

Mail theft was reported in the 300 block of Crystal Hills Boulevard. There is no suspect information.

MSPD responded to assist the Manitou Springs Fire Department after an unconscious man was found in his home in the 100 block of Clarksley Road. Life-saving attempts were unsuccessful, and the man died.

June 29

A stolen vehicle was recovered in the 200 block of Crystal Valley Road before it had been reported stolen. Officers responded and took a report, but there is no suspect information.

MSPD stopped a vehicle with a defective brake light near Crystal Park Road and Manitou Avenue. The driver was cited for multiple traffic offenses, including a fictitious license plate.

Officers responded to a possible assault report in the 300 block of Ruxton Avenue, where they located and separated a man and a woman. The alleged victim did not cooperate with MSPD; the suspect was identified and released. The alleged victim was taken to a hospital and remained uncooperative. MSPD will attempt a follow-up interview.

An assault was reported in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue. After investigating, officers found probable cause to charge a 30-year-old Manitou Springs man with third-degree assault.

A lost cell phone was turned in at the police station.

June 30

MSPD responded to the 100 block of Manitou Avenue, where a man was threatening others. He was found to be hallucinating and eventually was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

A traffic accident with vehicle damage occurred near Manitou Avenue and Crystal Hills Boulevard. The at-fault driver was cited for careless driving.

An unknown white male was seen entering an unlocked vehicle in the 300 block of Ruxton Avenue. He removed multiple items; the investigation is ongoing.

July 1

Officers stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue and learned the driver had a local misdemeanor warrant. He was arrested and booked into CJC.

At 0124 hours in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue, found property was given to officers.

MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue at 2125 hours. The driver was wanted on an out-of-county misdemeanor warrant and was served a new court date and released.

July 2

Officers stopped a vehicle near 30th and King streets. After checking the driver’s status, they learned the 22-year-old Colorado Springs woman had a revoked driver’s license and a local misdemeanor warrant. She was issued a summons and arrested on the warrant.

July 3

At 0810 hours, MSPD checked the welfare of a transient woman who was behaving erratically in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. She was arrested on local misdemeanor warrants and booked into CJC.
