Editor’s note: This report includes information from early June, since that report was unavailable when the June 14 Bulletin went to press.

JUNE 4

Manitou Springs Police officers responded to a parking complaint in the 400 block of Crystal Hills Boulevard. While investigating, they discovered the male suspect had several misdemeanor warrants from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Also, while on that call for service, MSPD found multiple vehicles with fictitious license plates. The vehicles were towed and the investigation continues.

An officer was dispatched to the intersection of Crystal Park Road and Poplar Place regarding a truck damaging the crosswalk device. A neighbor identified the truck that hit the device at 2230 hours June 3. The investigation is ongoing.

A cold criminal mischief incident resulting in less than $300 in damage was reported from the 400 block of El Paso Boulevard. No charges have been filed at this time.

 

JUNE 5

A check-the-welfare request came in from the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. When officers arrived, they located one person who appeared to be mentally disturbed. The person was transported to a hospital without incident.

MSPD responded to a cold criminal mischief report in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. The suspect has been served a court summons.

Officers contacted a man causing a disturbance in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. He was detained due to erratic behavior and charged with disorderly conduct.

 

JUNE 6

A theft was reported in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. MSPD located the suspect and issued a citation with a court date.

A vehicle attempted to make an illegal turn and became stuck in the roadway in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. A tow truck recovered the vehicle; the driver was cited for creating a hazard and was released.

 

JUNE 7

Officers stopped a speeding vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. After investigating, they arrested a 24-year-old Colorado Springs man for driving under the influence of alcohol and possessing a controlled substance.

 

JUNE 8

MSPD stopped to check on a man near the intersection of Manitou Avenue and Beckers Lane. Officers arrested a 70-year-old Colorado Springs man for local misdemeanor warrants.

A vehicle with fictitious license plates was stopped near El Paso Boulevard and Rockledge Lane. Officers seized the plates and issued a summons to the driver.

A domestic violence incident in progress was reported in the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard. A shared door was broken and one person was on scene when officers arrived. They attempted to contact that person, but were unable to. The case is deemed unfounded with the information provided.

 

JUNE 9

Officers stopped a vehicle near U.S. Highway 24 and Ridge Road. After investigating, they arrested a 47-year-old Colorado Springs man for a local felony warrant.

MSPD responded to a hit-and-run accident in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. One person was injured and transported to a hospital.

A family disturbance was reported in Soda Springs Park. After investigating, officers determined there was no cause to file charges against anyone involved.

MSPD stopped a speeding vehicle near the intersection of West Pikes Peak Avenue and Columbia Road. After investigating, the officers arrested an 18-year-old Colorado Springs man for being under the influence of drugs.

 

JUNE 10

At 1625 hours, MSPD learned that a Manitou Springs Fire Department vehicle had struck an MSPD vehicle in their shared parking lot in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue. The Colorado State Patrol was notified and personnel arrived to document the incident. No one was injured.

 

JUNE 11

Officers were patrolling the Midland Trail near the intersection of Highway 24 and 31st Street. They contacted two transients while they were using narcotics and littering. One was arrested on 21 outstanding warrants; both received summons for conservation and narcotics charges.

A moving truck hit a fire hydrant in the 00 block of Via Escondido Valle and knocked it over.

MSPD responded to a traffic accident between a city bus and a motorist near Manitou Avenue and Beckers Lane.

 

JUNE 12

Officers responded to a harassment report from the 500 block of El Paso Boulevard. After investigating, they determined that nothing criminal had occurred.

A resident of the 400 block of Ruxton Avenue reported a fraud via social media. The investigation is ongoing.

The manager of a motel in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue reported that several rooms had been rented using a fraudulent credit card.

Officers stopped a vehicle near 34th Street and West Pikes Peak Avenue. After checking the driver, they discovered she had a misdemeanor warrant and a felony warrant from El Paso County and a misdemeanor warrant from Teller County. MSPD took a 43-year-old Colorado Springs woman into custody.

 

JUNE 14

Officers responded to a fight in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. One person was charged with one count of felony menacing.

While patrolling the 900 block of Manitou Avenue, officers saw an intoxicated man asleep in the area. Numerous open alcohol containers were scattered around him. He was cited for public intoxication and released at his residence.

 

JUNE 15

Two vehicles were moderately damaged in a traffic accident on westbound Highway 24 near Cliff Road. Neither driver was injured and both vehicles were still drivable. No citations were issued.

Officers in the 500 block of El Paso Boulevard contacted two people with local misdemeanor warrants. One had Manitou Springs Municipal Court warrants and was released on a personal recognizance bond. The other had an El Paso County misdemeanor warrant and was in possession of a controlled substance. The second suspect was cited and booked into CJC.

 

JUNE 16

MSPD assisted the Colorado Springs Police Department in responding to a “shots fired with injuries” call in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue. 

Officers stopped a vehicle with a defective headlight and expired registration in the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue. After investigating, they arrested a 50-year-old Colorado Springs woman for driving under the influence of drugs.

 

JUNE 17

Officers heard a woman yelling for help in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue and discovered two women fighting. After an investigation, a 29-year-old Colorado Springs woman was charged with disorderly conduct and a 34-year-old Colorado Springs woman was charged with multiple misdemeanors, including cruelty toward a child and false imprisonment.

A cold vehicle theft was reported in the 300 block of Sutherland Place. A woman said that her ex-boyfriend had taken her car while she was in the hospital for several weeks. She learned about the theft when her father received multiple fines for toll and red light-running in the mail with a photo of her ex-boyfriend in the driver’s seat. A warrant has been issued.
