Editor’s note: Due to a technical issue, the Manitou Springs Police Department was unable to submit its usual report to the Bulletin. This is a summary of MSPD activity; we hope to publish more details about this report in our June 21 issue, along with the usual report for next week.
Calls for service
Over the past week, the MSPD handled 116 calls for service resulting in 11 case reports.
Most frequent call types:
• 10 traffic stops;
• 18 citizen contacts;
• Eight check-the-welfare requests; and
• Four suspicious incidents.
Manitou officers assisted the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office outside of Manitou Springs on seven calls for service.
Notable cases
06/07
Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. After investigating, they arrested a 24-year-old Colorado Springs man for driving under the influence.
06/08
Officers stopped to check on a person near the intersection of Manitou Avenue and Beckers Lane. They arrested a 70-year-old Colorado Springs man on outstanding El Paso County arrest warrants.
06/09
Officers stopped a vehicle near U.S. Highway 24 and Ridge Road. After investigating, they arrested a 47-year-old Colorado Springs man for an outstanding felony warrant.

MSPD responded to a hit-and-run traffic accident in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. One person was transported to a hospital.

Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding near the intersection of West Pikes Peak and Columbia Road. After investigating, they arrested an 18-year-old Colorado Springs male for driving under the influence.
