JANUARY 7

Officers responded to a cold theft call for service located in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. The investigation is concurrently ongoing.

Officers responded to an in-progress criminal trespassing call for service located at 120 Manitou Ave. Officers arrested one suspect and escorted them off the property without significant incident.

Police responded to a suspect attempting to purchase marijuana with a false identification card. Suspect was located, cited and released.

Officers took a report for a wheel stolen from a parked vehicle in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue. There is no suspect information.


JANUARY 9

Officers conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The vehicle fled the stop, and officers terminated the pursuit for public safety reasons. Officers located and detained two passengers that fled from the vehicle, and through investigation were able to identify the driver, and learned the vehicle was stolen. A warrant will be issued for the driver, and the suspect information was provided to the reporting agency for the stolen vehicle.

Officers contacted a male party that had exited a vehicle as it was fleeing from a traffic stop. The party refused to identify himself and was taken into custody for obstruction. Controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were located on his person. The party later identified himself while en-route to the jail. He was issued a summons and released.

Officers located a suspected wanted out of Teller County for Failure to Appear. The suspect was served and released with a Personal Recognizance bond.

Officers contacted the driver of a vehicle that was blocking traffic in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers discovered the driver was intoxicated and arrested them for driving under the influence.


JANUARY 10

Officers responded to a domestic violence just-occurred call for service. After officers’ investigation, neither party was arrested.

An officer conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle for displaying fictitious license plate. The license plate was seized, and the driver was released with a citation.

Officers contacted a party, who had a warrant for their arrest. Officers arrested the party and transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Officers noticed smoke coming from under the bridge at S. 31st Street and W. Highway 24. Officers contacted a party under the bridge and arrested them for trespassing and starting a public fire.


JANUARY 11 

The Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a check the welfare of an elderly male party that lived alone. A family member was able to assist the Police Officer into the residence. The elderly male party was found deceased inside of his residence. An investigation was conducted and found the death to not be suspicious.

Officers responded to a call for service regarding a potential harassment. A report was taken in case more information becomes available. 

The Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a report of a traffic accident with injuries. The party that reported having an injury decided to self-transport after the investigation was complete. An investigation was completed, and a report was taken.


JANUARY 12

Officers responded to the 400 block of El Paso Boulevard for a criminal trespass. Arriving officers located two heavily intoxicated parties hiding in the trees. Both parties were taken into custody. Both parties were served and released.


JANUARY 13

Officers responded to a cold theft in the 000 block of Manitou Avenue where an unknown suspect stole marijuana from the showroom and walked out.
