JAN. 2

A resident in the 300 block of Plainview Place reported a fraud (identity theft). Manitou Springs Police took a case report.

Officers contacted a man causing a disturbance at a liquor store in the 1100 block of Manitou Ave. He was obviously intoxicated and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

MSPD attempted to stop a vehicle with an expired license plate in the Beckers Lane/El Paso Boulevard area. The driver drove away from officers near 30th Street and West Pikes Peak Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers observed a car being driven in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue without tires on the driver’s side of the vehicle. A 26-year-old Colorado Springs man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

JAN. 3

Approximately $1,300 worth of knives were reported as stolen from a business in the 300 block of Beckers Lane. The investigation continues.

 

JAN. 4

Officers stopped a vehicle with expired registration in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. They discovered the driver was wanted on a local misdemeanor warrant and transported the suspect to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

A domestic disturbance was reported in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. While investigating, they learned that the woman involved was wanted on a local misdemeanor warrant. She was taken into custody and transported to CJC.

 

JAN. 5

MSPD stopped a vehicle displaying altered license plates in the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue. The driver was wanted on multiple misdemeanor and felony warrants and received new charges, including possession of narcotics equipment and of synthetic narcotics. The suspect was taken to CJC.

At 2140 hours, officers stopped a vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

 

JAN. 6

MSPD learned that a bus had run the red light departing U.S. Highway 24 onto Manitou Avenue, then drove over a curb and hit a sign but kept driving. While receiving this information, including the license plate number, officers observed the bus leaving Manitou Avenue to continue back onto Highway 24. They caught up to the vehicle and stopped it to determine what happened.

 

JAN. 7

Officers responded to an accident in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. When they arrived, they determined that the driver had lost control and hit a building. After running from the scene and being recaptured, the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

While responding to a report of trespassing in the 500 block of Manitou Avenue, MSPD located a 64-year-old man with a local misdemeanor warrant.

 

JAN. 8

Officers responded to an unattended death in the 00 block of Glen Road. They found a deceased 82-year-old Manitou Springs woman.
