Officers responded to an unattended death call for service located in the zero-hundred block of Narrow Rd. One subject was determined to be deceased. The related investigation unveiled no signs of foul play.
MSPD officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with fictitious plates. The driver was cited for multiple traffic related violations and released. The vehicle was towed.
JANUARY 1Â
Officers from the Manitou Springs Police Department were dispatched to a citizen traffic complaint on W. Highway 24 for a black truck swerving in the roadway. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on black truck, the truck eluded officers.
Manitou Springs police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a non-functioning headlamp. Officers contacted the driver and discovered the driver was intoxicated and arrested them for driving while impaired by alcohol.
MSPD arrested a party who was obstructing officers’ investigation of a DUI during a traffic stop in the vicinity of W. Colorado Avenue and Columbia Road.
JANUARY 2
Manitou Springs Police Department responded to Schryver park to document three signs that had been marked by graffiti. Pictures were taken to document the signs condition. At this time there is no suspect information.
Officers were notified of graffiti on barriers along Serpentine Drive. Investigation is ongoing.
MSPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the vicinity of the intersection of Manitou Avenue. and Beckers Lane. When officers checked the driver on law enforcement databases, officers discovered the driver had four outstanding warrants. Officers arrested the driver and transported him to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
JANUARY 3
MSPD conducted a patrol check of an area known for illegal camps. While conducting the patrol check one illegal camp was located and occupied by one male party. The male party was known to the officer from previous contacts. The male party was cited and released.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle non-injury traffic accident at Manitou Avenue and Garden of the Gods Place. Officers investigated on scene and cited the at fault driver.
MSPD attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white SUV with a license plate in the back window in a parking lot in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. As the police cruiser got close to the vehicle, the vehicle fled the parking lot speeding off into Colorado Springs.
MSPD contacted male who was sitting in a vehicle off the road in the vicinity of W. Highway 24 and S. Ridge Road. During the contact, officers determined the white male was intoxicated and arrested for driving under the influence.
JANUARY 4
MSPD contacted a party in a parking lot in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue who was driving erratically. Officers arrested the party for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
MSPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. Through the driver found to be using fictitious plates, expired plates, and did not have insurance. The driver was summonsed and released, and the vehicle was impounded.
JANUARY 5
MSPD conducted a check the welfare on the driver of a vehicle in a parking lot on W. Colorado Avenue. Officers arrested the driver for driving under the influence and transported them to CJC for an unrelated warrant.
MSPD responded to a report of a male party trespassing on several private properties. The male party was located and found to have an active warrant for his arrest. The male suspect was taken into custody and later booked into CJC for his arrest warrant.
Officers were informed that a wanted subject had provided false information during a prior investigation. Officers are preparing an arrest warrant for a man who lives in Pueblo.
Officers investigated a domestic violence report in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. An arrest warrant was filed for a Colorado Springs man.
A bag with found cameras was brought into the Manitou Springs Police Department.
JANUARY 6
MSPD officers contacted transients for trespassing and littering on private property. The transients had been warned various times. They were issued summons and released.
