Manitou Springs Police officers stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue and discovered the driver had a local misdemeanor warrant.
MSPD responded to Soda Springs Park, where a man was reportedly urinating in public. He was located and charged with indecent exposure before being transported to Springs Rescue Mission.
A possible theft was reported in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers responded and contacted the suspect. They learned he had a local felony warrant, arrested him and transported him to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
FEB. 8
Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Cañon Avenue, where a domestic violence incident in progress had been reported. No probable cause for arrest was found, but a case report was taken to document it.
MSPD stopped a vehicle with expired registration in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver and registered owner had a revoked license and no insurance. The driver was cited and released, and the vehicle was impounded.
Officers stopped a vehicle near El Paso Boulevard and Via Maria Theresia. A suspect with a local felony warrant was arrested and transported to CJC.
FEB. 9
A residential burglary in progress was reported in the 100 block of Crystal Park Road. The suspect had left by the time MSPD arrived. Officers investigated and will seek a warrant for charges related to domestic violence and property damage.
At 2121 hours, officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Beckers Lane. The driver was cited for multiple traffic infractions and the vehicle was impounded. While searching the vehicle, the officers found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
MSPD was called to a possible domestic disturbance near Park and Cañon avenues. Before officers arrived, one person had left in a vehicle. MSPD located and stopped the vehicle; no domestic charges were filed, but the driver was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol.
FEB. 10
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle after it was seen swerving near the intersection of Manitou and Pawnee avenues. The driver did not stop and began driving erratically. MSPD did not pursue for safety reasons, but later located the abandoned vehicle. After contacting the owner, officers learned it had recently been reported stolen.
MSPD stopped a vehicle without visible registration in the 200 block of Cañon Avenue. The officers observed drug paraphernalia next to the driver and searched the vehicle. They located a bag with a substance presumed to be controlled, which weighed enough to constitute a felony. The male suspect was taken into custody and booked into CJC.
FEB. 11
Sometime in February, two unknown people unlawfully entered hotel rooms in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue and did not pay. The investigation is ongoing.
FEB. 12
Officers stopped a speeding vehicle in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue and determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The 44-year-old Penrose man was arrested for DUI.
