JULY 22

Manitou Springs Police Department officers contacted a suspicious vehicle at W. Highway 24 and Ridge Road. The driver of the vehicle was a missing person. She was offered resources but refused any help. She was removed as missing from the National Crime Information Center. 

 

JULY 23

MSPD officers responded to a fraud where accounts were allegedly opened in the reporting party’s name. The reporting party was advised to monitor credit and report to credit monitoring services. 

Officer responded to a local business in the 500 block of Manitou Avenue regarding a stolen wallet. 

 

JULY 24

Officers stopped a vehicle on W. Highway 24 regarding expired registration and found the driver had an active arrest warrant. An 18-year-old Colorado Springs male was arrested and transported to the El Paso County Jail.

 

JULY 25

The Manitou Springs Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a male party not breathing. Upon arrival it was confirmed that the male party had died sometime over the night. The death was investigated and appeared to be of natural causes. A case report was taken to document the incident. 

Officers responded to a bicycle versus parked vehicle traffic accident in the 400 block of Ruxton Avenue. Upon arrival the bicycle rider was prone on the ground, screaming, complaining of leg pain. MSFD rendered medical aid and the rider was transported to the hospital for his injuries. The rider was cited with reckless endangerment and was served and released at the hospital. 

Officers stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue after observing the vehicle pull in front of another and swerve in the lane. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUID.

An officer responded to a cold criminal mischief in the 300 block of Beckers Lane involving a damaged vehicle. There is currently no suspect info.

 

JULY 26

MSPD officers discovered what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle in the field near Beckers Lane. The vehicle was unlocked and keys were inside. Narcotics and narcotic equipment found inside upon search of vehicle. 

Officers responded to a non-injury traffic accident in a parking lot in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue. There was minimal damage to the vehicles and a report was taken to document the incident. 

Officers were given found property; attempts to contact the owner were made but not successful, and the items were placed into safekeeping.

 

JULY 27

Officers stopped a vehicle for swerving in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI. 

Officers contacted a couple sleeping in a car on Washington and Canon Avenues. The female was determined to have a warrant and was placed under arrest and transported to CJC without incident. 

 

JULY 28

Officers contacted the driver of a vehicle after observing it swerving in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI. 

MSPD officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. The person was arrested on an outstanding warrant and drug paraphernalia charges. 

MSPD officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue reference a burglary in-progress. Officers contacted a male suspect, and he was subsequently arrested.

MSPD officers responded to a report of a cold theft on Brook Street regarding stolen property from the front yard. No suspect information. 

MSPD responded to a check the welfare in the 400 block of El Paso Boulevard. Once on scene, officers identified that the suspect was in crisis and assisted the family in resources. 

 

JULY 29

The Manitou Crisis Response team responded to a check the welfare in the 500 block of Manitou Ave. Following investigation, a female party was placed on a mental health hold and transported to the hospital for evaluation. 

MSPD officers contacted a person for illegal camping in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. The suspect was later charged with obstruction after refusing to provide accurate identifying information.
