NOV. 7
At 0905 hours, Manitou Springs Police officers patrolling the 00 block of Manitou Avenue recovered a stolen motorcycle. A suspect wanted on a local misdemeanor warrant was taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

MSPD contacted a woman who was trespassing near westbound U.S. Highway 24 and South 31st Street. After an investigation, the officers learned that she had a local misdemeanor warrant. They took her into custody and transported her to CJC.

A hit-and-run traffic accident occurred in the 100 block of Crystal Park Road; no one was injured. Officers searched the neighborhood for the suspect’s vehicle, but could not locate it.


NOV. 8
A juvenile was involved in a simple assault case in the 400 block of El Monte Place.

MSPD responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident near the intersection of Manitou Avenue and Crystal Park Road. The driver was trapped inside, but was safely extricated. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

NOV. 9
The Manitou Crisis Response Team assisted the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office with checking the welfare of a person in Security reportedly overdosing on pills. The Security Fire Department ultimately forced entry into the house in the 5200 block of Barnstormers Avenue after personnel were unable to contact the person. Upon entry, the MCRT found a woman had taken numerous bottles of pills in an attempt to commit suicide. She was placed on a mental health hold and transported via ambulance to a hospital.

A black Samsung cellphone was left at the MSPD’s information window.

Officers contacted a man trespassing in the 400 block of East Fountain Place and detained him. They determined he could be a danger to himself; he was taken to a hospital, where he attempted to bite a staff member.


NOV. 10
A person possibly driving under the influence was reported in the 100 block of Pawnee Avenue. Responding officers suspected the driver had been drinking alcohol and cited the suspect. 

MSPD stopped a vehicle going 23 mph over the speed limit near Manitou Avenue and Deer Path. The driver was then arrested for being under the influence of alcohol.

Officers located an abandoned vehicle near Highway 24 and Ridge Road; it appeared to have collided with a deer. The vehicle was blocking the westbound lane, so a tow truck was called.

A hiker reported finding a body near the Intemann Trail and MSPD responded with the Manitou Springs Fire Department. Officers investigated and suspected the man had committed suicide.

 

NOV. 11
Officers responded to a non-injury traffic accident in the 00 block of Minnehaha Avenue. A woman said she was backing out of her driveway and hit an unoccupied parked vehicle.

 

NOV. 12
MSPD assisted an outside agency pursuing a vehicle on westbound Highway 24. An officer had to administer Narcan to the suspect after he became unresponsive and showed signs of overdosing.

A disabled, apparently abandoned vehicle was towed from the 900 block of Manitou Avenue.

 

NOV. 13
Officers were dispatched to the check the welfare of a person in the 300 block of Plainview Place. When they arrived, they found that a man had discharged a firearm into the television. 

At 0840 hours, MSPD stopped a vehicle near the Highway 24/Ridge Road intersection and arrested the driver and passenger on local misdemeanor warrants.
