Firefighters deserve to have whatever they need

ByLyn Harwell

May 19, 2022

I just watched the Manitou Volunteer Fire Department get after a wild fire near Cave of the Winds hill. It seems like they got it taken care of in short order.

Makes you want to vote for the best darn fire machines around, or whatever it is the firefighters think we need to have. We are living in a tinder box.

We need your help!

Vital grant funding has not arrived as anticipated and we have a budget shortfall. We need to raise $25,000 to give us the runway to acquire the funds that will allow us not just to continue, but to grow and strengthen.

You may have noticed that we paused our print — but we haven’t paused our online journalism.

We are devising a better, more sustainable business model for the paper.
