Any fireworks that have to be lit are banned in El Paso County before, during and after July 4.

Instead, residents can ooh and aah over professional fireworks displays set off from locations including The Broadmoor, 1 Lake Ave.; Colorado Springs Switchbacks’ Weidner Field, 111 W. Cimarron St.; and Garden of the Gods Resort & Club, 3320 Mesa Road.

Only the Weidner Field event is open to the public; it will take place after the Switchbacks game and requires tickets. The rest can be watched from your porch or yard on Monday, July 4.

The displays will begin about 9 p.m., after the sky is fully dark.

Before then, celebrate at the Star Spangled Symphony & July 4th Block Party at the Pikes Peak Center, 190 S. Cascade Ave. The free concert will feature patriotic favorites.

Tickets must be reserved at csphilharmonic.org/july4. A free livestream is also available through the same website, and several local radio stations will broadcast it.

The block party will center on 101 Sahwatch St. and will feature food vendors and a beer garden.

Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m. and conclude at 7 p.m., with the 75-minute concert beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Pikes Peak Center’s doors open at 3:30.

All activities are subject to change, depending on weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
