Two Colorado Springs natives — Kristina Mascarenas and Jonathan Aziz — were crowned queen and king of the mountain after they won the Pikes Peak Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 18.

Mascarenas won the race in 2017 and came back from ankle injuries. This was Aziz’s first Pikes Peak Marathon, and he had to persevere after falling and injuring himself on the way back down.
