June 12
A cold theft was reported in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. Manitou Springs Police officers responded and investigated.
The Manitou Crisis Response Team assisted the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in checking the welfare of a suicidal person in the 4800 block of Manzana Drive in Security. Officers located the person unconscious in a bathtub after taking a large number of pills. Medical attention was provided, and the person was transported via ambulance to a hospital for a mental health hold.
MSPD responded to a domestic violence in progress in the 00 block of Elk Path. A woman was taken into custody for related charges and was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
Officers learned that a woman at a motel in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue had multiple local misdemeanor warrants. They arrived, located the woman and took her into custody. She was then booked into CJC.
June 13
MSPD responded to a disturbance reported in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue and found it was related to a possible kidnapping in Colorado Springs. MSPD worked in conjunction with the Colorado Springs Police Department, which investigated and arrested one person.
A woman was found naked in the woods near the Crystal Valley Cemetery, and officers discovered her vehicle had gotten stuck and she abandoned it. She seemed to be under the influence of drugs and would not answer questions. The police will follow up.
MSPD contacted a transient after seeing a large amount of smoke emanating from under the bridge at U.S. Highway 24 and Ridge Road. The person had built a fire and was charged with fourth-degree arson for endangering property.
June 14
Harassment was reported in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. When officers arrived, they spoke to a man who was later found to have a local misdemeanor warrant and narcotic equipment. He started resisting officers and was shocked with a stun gun. Once the officers got control of him, he was medically cleared and transported to CJC without any further incidents.
MSPD responded to a non-injury traffic accident; a city bus struck a parked vehicle near Old Man’s Trail and El Paso Boulevard.
June 15
Officers contacted a person illegally camping near Highway 24 and Manitou Avenue. While they were attempting to identify him, he shoved an officer and had to be restrained and taken into custody. MSPD requested assistance from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to identify him with a mobile fingerprint reader, since he refused to identify himself. He was later booked into CJC on those charges and on a local felony warrant.
MSPD located a suspicious vehicle that appeared to be used for camping on private property in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers learned the vehicle’s owner had a local misdemeanor warrant and took her into custody to be booked into CJC. During the investigation, the officers encountered a man with four active Colorado Springs warrants. He attempted to use someone else’s identification and was charged with obstructing police. He was taken into custody and booked into CJC.
A woman was taken into custody and transported to CJC after violating a domestic violence-related restraining order in the 00 block of Elk Path.
In the 00 block of Manitou Avenue, an officer located a man with a local misdemeanor warrant. He was taken into custody and booked into CJC.
An officer contacted a man with an active warrant, but when the officer attempted to take custody, the suspect fled on foot from the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. He was quickly apprehended and had drug paraphernalia. He was cited and booked into CJC.
A wallet was found in the 100 block of Cañon Avenue and checked into found property.
June 16
In the 3200 block of West Pikes Peak Avenue, MSPD contacted a 35-year-old Colorado Springs woman and found she was in possession of illegal drugs and had a local felony warrant.
Officers stopped a vehicle in the 2700 block of West Colorado Avenue. The driver had local misdemeanor warrants, but was issued a personal recognizance bond due to a medical condition.
A disturbance was reported in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue; a woman was cited for harassment.
At 2220 hours, officers stopped a vehicle in the 3000 block of West Colorado Avenue and arrested the driver on a local misdemeanor warrant.
June 17
MSPD received a report from CSPD regarding a June 11 child abuse incident near Highway 24 and Manitou Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.
A Manitou Springs Fire Department engine struck a parked vehicle in the 300 block of Cañon Avenue. A report was taken.
Found property was turned in at the police station.
MSPD responded to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 24. The vehicle was damaged, but no one was injured. The driver was cited for careless driving.
A black LG cellphone was found and turned in. It has been placed in safekeeping.
June 18
Officers stopped a vehicle being driven on the wrong side of the road in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue. The officers gained probable cause to arrest the driver for being under the influence of alcohol.
