No SNAP benefits in November.
Just let that sink in.
For millions of families, that headline isn’t just news – it’s survival being pulled out from under them. SNAP is what keeps food on the table for kids, parents, and seniors when times are already hard. And now, with the government shutdown stretching on, those benefits may stop.
As someone who manages a food pantry, I can tell you this hits home in a very real way. When SNAP is disrupted, we see the impact immediately:
More families coming to us for help.
Less food available to give.
Donations and funding already stretched thin.
We’re already fighting through inflation, funding cuts, and fewer donations and now we’re bracing for an even higher demand. This is devastating for so many hardworking families in our community.
This is not about politics; it’s about people’s basic needs.
If you’re able to help, please consider donating nonperishable food, toiletries, or funds to support local pantries. Every item and every dollar makes a difference.
Some places that can use donations that will be impacted by the SNAP freeze in November:
Solid Rock Community Development Corporation Food Center
Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado
There are many other places that distribute food and will also be impacted. Find the closest one to you, reach out and see how you can help.
Our shelves may get lighter, but our hearts and commitment to our community will not. Together, we’ll make sure no one goes hungry.
