As of Tuesday, Aug. 16, El Paso County had experienced 1,924 coronavirus cases, 22 hospitalizations and two deaths in the previous two weeks.
The total since early March 2020: 202,004 cases, 8,264 hospitalizations and 1,769 deaths, according to the El Paso County Public Health Department.
Most hospitalizations are for people aged 60 to 69, with 1,650 since the pandemic struck the county. People aged 70 to 79 are second, with 1,467 hospitalizations.
People aged 80 to 89 have been the most vulnerable, with 485 dying since March 2020. The 70- to 79-year-old age group is second, with 391 deaths.
El Paso County is still fourth among the state’s most populous counties, with 242 deaths per 100,000 people. The average of all Colorado counties is 226 deaths per 100,000.
A total of 1,183,191 vaccination doses have been given to county residents. That includes 499,284 people vaccinated, 449,564 people fully vaccinated and 197,016 people boosted.
