From Tuesday, June 7, to Tuesday, June 21, 3,136 coronavirus cases and 30 hospitalizations were reported to the El Paso County Public Health Department, according to its website.

That’s a vast improvement over the 2,369 single-day cases reported on Jan. 14, 2022.

The county’s case numbers steadily dropped and reached a low of 10 cases on April 3, but have been climbing again through June. The most recent peak has been 352 reported cases on June 9.

Hospitalizations also have increased this month, peaking at six on June 4.

People aged 80 to 89 continue to be the most vulnerable to the virus. The health department counts 471 deaths among that age group since March 1, 2020; a total of 1,716 county residents have died in that same timeframe.

As of June 19, El Paso County residents have received 1,158,035 doses of vaccine. That breaks down to 72.1 percent of eligible individuals (older than 5) receiving one dose, or 494,730 people; 65 percent fully vaccinated, 446,032 people ; and 27.9 percent boosted, 191,649 people.
