Creative Alliance Manitou Springs (CRANE) announces three new calls for artists, with more to come in April. The public art projects currently listed include an art installation on the Beckers Lane Bridge and two sculptural works slated for installation in Manitou’s eastern commercial district.
“The goal for the Beckers Lane Bridge installation is to engage residents and visitors with exceptional artwork that activates the streetscape and encourages exploration,” said CRANE Executive Director Becca Sickbert. “And we’re particularly pleased that this project will enhance a bridge dedicated to our own Marcy Morrison.”
Project budgets range from $35,000-$40,000 and are funded by the Manitou Springs Urban Renewal Authority with administrative support from CRANE’s Public Art Committee. Both of the $40,000 sculptures are part of the Spirit of Manitou Legacy Art Project, a five-year program to create an artistic and visual legacy in the sunrise gateway to Manitou Springs.
“We are honored to be working toward an even more visually engaging public art landscape on behalf of the URA,” said Audrey Gray, CRANE vice chair and Public Art Committee chair. “We look forward to seeing submissions from both local and national artists.”
To balance a competitive national call with its mission to support local creatives, CRANE will waive application fees for artists who live or work in the community.
