Supporting 65 local nonprofits Give! Nonprofit profile: Citizens Project

What

For 32 years, Citizens Project has been a fierce advocate for equity, inclusion, and justice in the Pikes Peak region. As a nonpartisan organization, we believe that civic engagement is essential to the well-being of all communities. We collaborate with partners in traditionally marginalized communities to create representative legislation and foster public participation. Our efforts are concentrated in high-impact areas, with current initiatives focusing on Southeast Colorado Springs and youth.

Why

Equity and advocacy work are deeply personal for us. Many of our staff members have strong ties to the Southeast and have directly experienced the systemic inequalities that have hindered both individual communities and the city as a whole from reaching their full potential. We are passionately invested in this work because we believe that striving for equity fosters a more just, stable, and healthy society.

Goals

Our goal is to reduce equity gaps f o r h i s t o r i c a l l y marginalized communities by advocating for equitable policy changes in partnership with local organizations, and by empowering communities through resources like our voting guides, candidate forums, and GOTV initiatives.

Give! Nonprofit profile: Pikes Peak Philharmonic

What

The Pikes Peak Philharmonic is a dedicated group of citizens who LOVE to make music together. We share our love of music with five concerts per season. We strive to keep the cost of attending our concerts low so anyone who would like to experience live symphonic music can afford to attend and bring as many family members and friends as possible! We pay dues to ensure this happens, but we also work to ensure all our members can afford to play! We perform at the Ent Center for the Arts.

Why

We provide high quality low-cost symphonic experiences. We strive to keep costs under $20 per ticket and provide numerous discounted tickets for students, seniors and military members and free admission under 12 years old. We also provide an exciting creative outlet for numerous non-professional musicians. We have found a performance home at the Ent Center for the Arts that provides an excellent experience for all.

Goals

Our fundraising goals this season are;

*Keep ticket prices low

*Keep membership dues reasonable

*Continue to perform at the Ent Center for the Arts

“Our autistic and music-loving son was able to attend a rehearsal of his favorite theme in Holst’s Jupiter. His eyes lit up with joy. This moved my family deeply and is an example of the group’s role in making the great works accessible to the community. The group has rekindled my own violin-playing!” – Dedicated caregiver and music lover
