When Lyn Ettinger-Harwell (president and publisher) asked me to write a column for this week’s edition of the Bulletin, I thought, “Didn’t I just do that?” But then I realized that it was about this time last year, when our committed board was working on bringing the Pikes Peak Bulletin back to print form.

And my, what we have accomplished since then!

The PPB continues to be a beacon for Old Colorado City, the Westside, Manitou Springs and the Ute Pass corridor.

During the holidays, I was visiting a friend in OCC. He told me that his plan for the day was to “stay in my PJs and robe, and get caught up on reading the Bulletin.”

At the Manitou Springs Women’s Club meeting in January, two new guests heard about the meeting from reading the PPB. (You don’t need to live in Manitou Springs to be part of the Women’s Club!)

We have shared with you the Great Fruitcake Toss, the Carnegie Library project ground-breaking, the journey of our local high school athletes, our community’s commitment to reducing single-use plastic, the joys of visiting the OCC library, the news from Green Mountain Falls and the 2023 city report from Manitou Springs.

The Bulletin provides so much relevant information — with a very small staff — to our readers every week.

The PPB continues to be a beacon.

Some people want more “in-depth” reporting, others want less. Some people want “Where Is It?” to come back. Others want fewer cartoons and more detailed horoscopes.

Everyone loves the Police Beat!

Readers appreciate learning about new businesses in the area and look forward to updates on the tried and true establishments that have been in the area for years.

The PPB Board appreciates you, our readers, subscribers and advertisers!

For us to stay relevant, we need your continued support. Please continue to subscribe to one of the few, strong, local, community-driven nonprofit newspapers in the country, and please consider advertising with us.

On behalf of the Bulletin Board of Directors, I am offering a heartfelt THANK YOU for your support thus far.

Support Local Journalism!

We’re a community-powered nonprofit organization and we can’t fulfill our mission without you. We need your voices, viewpoints, and financial support.
