Ute Pass area new business profile: Woodland Park Apothecary & Energy Healing

Annae Bert opened Woodland Park Apothecary & Energy Healing early July in the corner of the Gold Hill Shopping Plaza of Woodland Park. The shop is overflowing with luscious scents, beautiful handcrafted jewelry, specialty candles, hard-to-find kitchen gadgets, oils, soaps, apothecary jars, a handcrafted sheepskin sleep sack, specialty gift items and so much more!

Before coming to CO, Annae was a nurse in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in a Houston hospital. She moved to Colorado with her husband to be closer to his family, and to follow her dream of opening an apothecary shop. Annae exclaims, “Woodland Park is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been in. Everyone’s so nice here!” And thus began her new adventure.

Annae is assisted by Grace Kaufmann, a 12-year-old volunteer who is also a crafter, designer of labels, maker of trinkets, student of entrepreneurship and soon-to-be teacher of teen classes.

Visions for what lies ahead include crystals and botanicals, a locally-sourced tea shop and a schedule of classes to educate and inspire. Annae wants to, “Sell items like a real apothecary, everything in bulk. You don’t need the packaging. You bring your own bag.”  In addition, Annae would like to, “Encourage a barter system for the crafting of products. I’d like for us to get together as community and support each other.”

Donation-based classes will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday Fun Days and Make It Mondays. Kits for classes such as candle-making will start at $10.00. In addition, Grace will be offering classes designed just for teens. Annae is accepting donations such as arts and craft supplies, glass containers with lids, and baskets in good condition to be used for classes.

For more information, email Annae at wpa.629@gmail.com. The shop is located at 629 West Midland Avenue in the Gold Hill Plaza, Woodland Park. Store hours are 7 days a week,10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
