In this issue, we’re premiering a new series called Partner Profiles. These features by our ace account executive/journalist Heila Ershadi will highlight the stories behind local businesses and events working and happening in Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City/the Westside and lower Ute Pass who provide crucial financial support by advertising with us.

This is our way of encouraging those business owners and event organizers to advertise with the Bulletin; in return, our readers will learn more about the people and their motivations — more than they’ll learn from an ad.

As you’ll see on page 16, Heila has written an eloquent introduction about what we’re doing with these profiles. This first one is about a great local effort to bring fresh produce and fun to Manitou Springs residents and visitors.

We hope you’ll mark your calendars to stop by Soda Springs Park on Sunday afternoons. Enjoy shopping, listening to live music and meeting up with friends.

Stay tuned for many more features about subjects including Old Colorado City’s Mushroom Saloon and the Michael Garman Museum & Gallery, and Orenda Natural Wear in Manitou.

“Local news is an endangered species nationwide,” Heila said. “If it is to survive, there has to be community support. Advertising is an important part of that support, and it makes sense acknowledge this and give a shoutout to the awesome local businesses and events who support us with a Partner Profile.”

As editor, I’m committed to ensuring that our reporting is not influenced by advertising purchases. It helps that this area’s communities are home to so many people doing interesting, important things.

However, we’re also committed to staying in business so we can continue to support our special part of the Pikes Peak region. The more advertising we bring in, the better we fare.

“Could you imagine life without the PPB? We have already experienced a financially precarious time in 2023,” said Bulletin publisher Lyn Ettinger-Harwell.

“I am very excited to add these profiles to our weekly news coverage for you. I hope you will support these local retailers and local business in general as we move into our summer months and all year round. It really does help the PPB, your local news source.”

If you’re interested in being part of this series or want to suggest someone, their business or their event, please contact Heila at 719-373-1150 or heila@pikespeakbulletin.org.

As always, thanks for reading!
